New Security Services Company

Dear Residents:

Due to stringent check on security service employee origins and their work permit credentials; the majority of foreigners working in the country are being forced to leave. Hence the reson why Keselamatan Gaurda were forced to terminate their services with us (who had Nepalese guards) at the end of November 2011. Further the authorities are now asking secruity companies only to deploy locals as far as possible in their assignments.

The Irix committee after Garuda's exit, had to quickly look for a replacement and after some searching engaged the services of Keselamatan Sentral who promised good services with local guards but with a higher rate of RM 4.50/hour/guard. The rate paid to Garuda was RM 4.30/hour/guard. Unfortunately the level of service provided by Keselamatn Sentral in the last two weeks noticeably is not as rigorous as Keselamatan Garuda.

Note the overall cost per month payable to security companies besides the hourly rate per guard, includes a 6% government service tax and a RM 200/- allowance presently for motor bike patrols. This on average will work out to between RM 10,700/month at a rate of RM 4.50/hour/guard.

The Irix committee is in talks with another company to engage them in January 2012. Every 10 sen increase in the rate increases the overall monthly costs to the security bill by about RM 260/- on average, as the 6% government service tax and the allowance given for the motor cycle patrolling at RM 200/- has to be taken into account. The company intended for deployment in January 2012 however wants RM 500/month for the motor bike patrolling. For a household number of 200, the current resident particpation level fluctuates between 65% to 70% and the collections at RM 80/month just suffices for this rate of RM 4.50/hour costs.

About 45% of the residents make payments without asking. The remaining residents (30 to 40 numbers on average every quarter) make the committee do the hard work of walking around to remind them to pay every 3 months. The committee has to do this to maintain cash flow to run the programme with sufficient reserves for infrastructure maintenance, upgrading and to prop up the bad collection months. Despite the difficulties the committee has endured, the committee is glad to report that at present we have 2 months of reserve funds which was painstakingly saved over the last 2 years.

The committee therefore requests: until the level of service improves with the intended deployment of a new security company in early January 2012, we seek residents to take extra precautions in security matters to their homes at all hours of the day. And for goodness sake get your stickers from any one of the committee members to get hassle free entry, exit into the zone. For the non participants, the committee requests that they collect their red stickers from the committee. Please request your visitors to register at the Entry guard post. And report on suspicious persons, vehicles, to the emergency guard number on 010-260 4093. Or call the Balai Polis Sri Damansara on 03-6272 0400.

The committee also requests for further resident participation to be assitant street leaders. Presently we are looking for additional members in Road 9/7B, 9/9B and Road 9/9C. Road 9/9C is without a street leader since the programme commencement and committee members from the other streets are assisting in the collections. With increased voluntary participation and paying the security fees on time and residents extending co-operation will assist us to live harmoniously within the zone. We also welcome house wives to join the committee: they can then talk to other resident ladies in their evening walks just like what the Ara Sector (Penchala Entrance Road) committee is doing to increase the level of awareness, and participation.

Let us close ranks before and not after a unwanted incident.

Thank You

V. Nathan
Secretary
Iris/Ixora Security Committee.

Feedback on Security Firm

This is the concern expressed by one of our residents.

Just wanted to share my feedback on our security Team members lately for your info:

• There were cars parked near the kindergarten-end of 9/9B without any sticker/visit pas-I did check with the guards on one particular car-proton but no record were made-in fact that car had some ropes & construction items.
• the security company tend to change their guards too frequently.

Regards.
